GUIDED PRAIRIE DOG HUNTS START IN APRIL 2024
Rat Reapers has some of the best Belding Ground Squirrel hunting in Eastern Oregon. The Belding Ground Squirrel, known to most as the “sage rat”, gives a person the chance to both refine their shooting skills and have some fun at the same time. Many big game hunters take this opportunity in the springtime to get some additional practice with smaller caliber rifles as preparation for the upcoming fall deer and elk hunts.

The hunt takes place in Fox, Oregon, which is about 30 miles from the town of John Day, Oregon, which is about a 30-minute drive. There are numerous options for food and lodging in John Day including hotels or Airbnb rentals.

Bonus: There is no hunting license required to participate as we are hunting on private lands. Cost of guided hunt: $300/day per shooter.

WHAT TO EXPECT
Your day will consist of meeting at 8am with shooting starting around 8:30am. We will shoot until about 12pm and then break for lunch, which will be provided on site. Shooting will resume at 1pm and conclude at 4pm.

WHAT WE BRING
We provide coffee in the morning with beverages and snacks provided throughout the day. Lunch will also be provided by us. No alcohol will be provided or consumed during the hunt hours.

**If you need a gun, we have a handful of .17 HMRs for rent for $50 a day. You will be responsible for providing your own ammo.**
WHAT YOU BRING
The preferred weapon is either a .17HMR or .22 caliber rifle. At this time, we are unable to accommodate higher caliber weapons due to the logistics of where we are shooting. Please bring 200-300 rounds of ammunition.
